The San Diego ACLU sent a letter to Council Member Tony Young today asking him to refrain from sponsoring future events like the "2010 San Diego Praise Fest," which was "designed to provide the San Diego community with an opportunity to come together in praise and worship..."

The ACLU strongly supports the right of individuals and private organizations to sponsor or participate in religious praise and worship, but is concerned when a city council member, in his official capacity, uses the official logo and links to his official city website and on a flyer from his office to promote such an event.
