Equity in Action: Power Through Community Leadership

The ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties is excited to hold our first annual Equity In Action; Our Power Through Community Leadership Conference on March 17, 2018. Rise up to take action with community leaders and activists across the region so we can fight many of the critical challenges facing our communities, including attacks on immigrants’ rights and an oppressive criminal justice system. Through a lens of equity and social justice, a series of workshops and plenaries focusing on our priority campaigns throughout our region will uplift the intersectionality of all civil rights issues.

Join us as we launch our local and statewide priority campaigns for Spring 2018! All participants will be asked to commit to joining us as Civil Rights Defenders on the campaign trail to ensure we invest in our vulnerable communities and elect politicians who will prioritize our shared values. The need to protect our civil liberties and civil rights has never been more critical and we know we are stronger when we work together.

What is ACLU Membership:

Membership gifts to the ACLU allow us the greatest flexibility in our work. While not tax deductible, they advance our extensive litigation, communications and public education programs. They also enable us to advocate and lobby in legislatures at the federal and local level to advance civil liberties. When you make a contribution to the ACLU, you become a “card-carrying” member who takes a stand for civil liberties.

Membership dues of $35 or more annually entitles you to a membership in your local and national ACLU. If you are part of a joint membership, please consider a gift of $50 to renew your ACLU membership. Students, seniors, and limited income membership starts at $10 annually.

Please direct any questions regarding becoming a member of the ACLU to Rachel Stevens at[email protected] or by calling (619) 398-4184.

Membership benefits include:

  • An official ACLU membership card
  • Automatic membership in the National ACLU and ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties
  • A subscription to the National ACLU magazine, STAND
  • Voting privileges at the ACLU-SDIC’s Annual Meeting of the Members
