The ACLU scored a huge victory in our challenge to the City of Escondido's anti-immigrant ordinance prohibiting landlords from renting to undocumented immigrants.

A judge issued a permanent injunction, agreeing that the ordinance violated the Equal Protection Clause and forced citizens to take on federal law enforcement duties.

The lawsuit was filed on November 3, 2006, and was settled just a little over a month later, with the city agreeing to a permanent injunction.
