Stand in Solidarity
with The People of Arizona -
Denounce SB 1070!

 

SB 1070, signed into law by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer on Friday, makes it illegal for immigrants to not carry alien registration documents, and requires police to question people about their immigration status if there's reason to suspect they're in the country illegally. Public officials supporting the law have said that illegal immigrants can be identified by the clothes they wear, the way they speak and the way they behave...but assure us that race and ethnicity alone cannot be used to establish reasonable suspicion. We aren't buying that.

Rep. Paul Grijalva of Arizona calls the law "fundamentally racist," and said, "We are codifying into law racial profiling--discrimination under the Constitution."
